Hunchun is a Mauritian citizen and an overseas citizen of India. He is very fluent in English, French and Hindi.
He enrolled to practice as an Attorney in 1992. He has jurisdiction to practice law before all tribunals, inferior courts, Intermediate and the Supreme Court of Mauritius. He has also competence to carry out procedures before the Appellate Courts of Mauritius including appeals before the Judicial Committee of her Majesty, The Queen (Privy Council).
Hunchun has served in the past as an elected Local Authority Councillor. He was the Chairman of the National Transport Authority of Mauritius (NTA) in the year 1999. He also became a member of the Environment and Land use Appeal Tribunal.
Hunchun is presently Legal Adviser of Several Local Authorities in Mauritius (District Councils). He is Legal Adviser of the Land Research and Mediation Unit set up by the Government of Mauritius after the recommendation made by the Truth and Justice Commission. He is also legal Adviser of the Mauritius Agricultural Marketing Board. He is also acting as Chairperson in Disciplinary Committees.
